LRQA has been granted accreditation to the revised IATF 16949:2016 Automotive Quality Management System (QMS) Standard.
Published in October 2016, IATF 16949:2016 replaces the current ISO/TS 16949:2009. It follows the same structure as ISO 9001:2015, with the automotive requirements being additional to the core requirements of ISO 9001:2015, and provides essential sector specific revisions designed to encourage industry-wide continual improvement.
Organisations currently certified to ISO/TS 16949:2009 are required to successfully transition to the revised standard by September 2018 - transition audits will be carried out in line with the organisation's current scheduled recertification or surveillance audit. After October 2017 all audits must be conducted to IATF 16949:2016 and any organisations seeking initial certification will need to use the revised standard.
