Posco Engineering & Construction Co. (Posco E&C) has become the first construction company in South Korea to achieve ISO 45001:2018 certification.
As highlighted by leading Korean business news website Pulse, Posco E&C has revamped its approach to occupational health and safety (OH&S) to meet the new requirements. To encourage employee participation, the company has set up a new reward system that will grant annual compensation to workers based on their commitment to the new rules and provide various incentives to its partner companies that meet the standard.
“We congratulate the team at Posco E&C for this significant achievement. It demonstrates not only their OH&S commitment, but shows the value that is placed by organisations like Posco in independent accredited certification,” said Steve Williams, System and Governance Manager at LRQA.
As announced on 2 July, LRQA has become one of the first wave of certification bodies to be awarded global accreditation by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) for ISO 45001:2018.
Since the publication of international OH&S standard in March, LRQA has been at the forefront of delivering ISO 45001:2018 assurance and training to organisations worldwide. More information on how LRQA can support your organisation can be found here.
