Overview

ISO 3834 defines quality requirements for welding. It is used for assessing the manufacturers welding quality for fusion welding of metallic materials without being assigned to any products. There are 3 types of quality level certification based on ISO 3834 part 2, 3 & 4 (comprehensive, standard & elementary respectively). Selection criteria is based on safety critical and dynamic loading of the products, in service conditions.

LRQA provides certification under UKAS accreditation in accordance with ISO / IEC – 17065: 2012. Audit process involves technical review of materials type, welding process, type of products & assessing welding competency of assigned welding coordinators, in accordance with ISO 14731.

EN1090 regulates the fabrication and assembly of steel and aluminium structures and recognized by Construction Product Regulation (CPR), Construction products meant for European market must comply with CPR based on Declaration of Performance. Certification process involves qualification of welders, WPS, quality assurance to welding and related activities thru 3834 compliance, implementation and                                              continuous supervision of Factory Production Control system (FPC). LRQA provides this certification thru Notified Body services.

ISO 3834 & EN 1090 are not products certification, these are issued to shops after satisfactory completion of system audits and maintained by surveillance audits in-between recertification periods, in accordance with EA guidelines.
