This training is intended for potential NEN SCL auditors who want to audit a safety culture system according to the NEN Safety Culture Ladder (SCL) certification scheme. The training addresses similarities and differences between management system audits and Safety Culture Ladder audits and provides practical tips for auditing different types of organizations according to the SCL requirements. During the training you will have the opportunity to share insights with other SCL auditors and you will also learn how to act in an audit team.

Anyone who is seeking NEN SCL Authorisation for 3rd Party Audits on behalf of a Certification Body or conducting internal audits in an organisation against the NEN SCL Standard.

The training addresses similarities and differences between management system audits and Safety Culture Ladder audits and provides practical tips for auditing different types of organisations according to the SCL requirements.
You will learn about:
- The principles, requirements and objectives of the Safety Culture Ladder
- How assess attitudes and behavioural aspects with regard to the requirements of the Safety Culture Ladder and express these in evaluations
- Applying the SCL requirements to external audits up to and including level 3
- How to determine and motivate whether or not a NEN SCL level has been achieved
- The role and responsibilities of a NEN SCL auditor
- How to draw up and actively coordinate an audit program/plan in an audit team,
- Collecting objective evidence and converting it into a conditional and behavioural assessment up to level 3
- Assessing and documenting audit results in NEN-SCL-compliant audit reports
- Follow-up and evaluation of the effectiveness of the action plan with the other auditors and the client
- Required steps for registration as an SCL auditor with NEN
Course preparation
The SCL 2.0 Standard (September 2023) and the Certification Scheme SCL 2.0 (September 2023) apply to this training. You are requested to read both documents before participating in the training. These are freely available on the NEN website.
Furthermore, a mandatory eLearning module is part of the preparation, which will be made available to you by NEN after registration and confirmation of the training.
