With a greater emphasis on continuous improvement, version 5.1 aims to align FSSC 22000 with the new GFSI scheme requirements released in 2020.

The Foundation Food Safety System Certification 22000 Version 5.1 (FSSC 22000 V5.1) was released in November 2020, with audits taking place from 1 April 2021.

In addition to strengthened Certification Body (CB) performance requirements, the update's main focus considers the new Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) scheme update, including the new requirements around multi-site certification and food safety culture.

Accredited systems, such as FSSC 22000, can enhance brand reputation while giving your customers confidence in your production and supply chain management.

With increasingly complex supply chains, LRQA understands the importance of having the correct food safety management system in place verified by a reputable CB. LRQA food safety specialists have worked with over 35,000 clients within the food and beverage sector.

Governed by a non-profit organisation, FSSC 22000 is designed to help businesses establish and continually manage food safety. The scheme incorporates international and independent standards such as ISO 22000 and pre-requisite programs.

Currently, the scheme is published in English, Chinese, Japanese and French.
