The latest IRIS revision includes requirements from both the new ISO/TS 22163:2017 standard and the IRIS Certification Rules 2017.
Following the publication of ISO/TS 22163:2017 - the international management system standard that features rail-specific requirements - UNIFE, the Association of the European Rail Supply Industry, has launched the latest evolution of the IRIS Certification system, IRIS rev.03.
The IRIS Certification System rev.03 includes requirements from both the new ISO/TS 22163:2017 standard and the IRIS Certification Rules 2017. ISO/TS 22163:2017 is based on the quality management system (QMS) standard ISO 9001:2015 and introduces a number of rail specific management system requirements, which have been based on stakeholder feedback and developments in the sector. The associated guidelines, highlighted in the IRIS Certification Rules 2017, relate to the assessment methodology and certification process.
LRQA Technical Manager QMS North Europe, Frans Dolmans, commented: “The launch of IRIS rev.03 is a positive step that acknowledges key developments within the rail arena and better aligns with recent ISO requirements. It will therefore provide organisations operating in the rail sector with a modern and transparent quality management system that focuses on continual improvement.”
With all the major standards being revised, LRQA is at the forefront of communicating the changes. We offer a range of assessment services as well as public and in-house training courses, all aimed at helping to ensure that organisations worldwide have a smooth transition to the new standards.
