On 21 April 2023, an Italian Council of State court ruled that public procurement tenders, issued on behalf of Italian Regulatory bodies, could mandate that only management system certification with a European Union Accreditation Body Mark can apply.
An Italian Council of State court ruled on 21st April, 2023 that public procurement tenders, issued on behalf of Italian Regulatory bodies, could mandate that only management systems certification bearing a European Union Accreditation Body Mark can be submitted to apply for the tender. The ruling applies to government procurement tenders specific to Italy, not broader business-to-business uses of certification within Italy and the EU. There is also currently an appeal period in progress between 21st April and 21st May 2023.
