LRQA expands digital trust capabilities with ISO 42001 certification, training and AI enhancements to supply chain intelligence software

LRQA, the leading global assurance partner, has launched its ISO 42001 certification service, marking a major step forward in its mission to build digital trust in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

As part of this strategic expansion, LRQA expects to generate £200 million in revenue from its combined AI, digital assurance and cybersecurity services by 2030 – accounting for at least 20% of the Group’s total revenue.

Published in 2024, ISO 42001 is the world’s first international standard for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems (AIMS). It provides organisations with a structured framework to govern the responsible development, deployment and oversight of AI technologies – addressing ethical, operational and regulatory risks in an increasingly complex landscape.

LRQA is already supporting global leaders on this journey. In April 2024, Emirates Health Services (EHS) became one of the first organisations worldwide to achieve ISO 42001 certification with LRQA as its assurance partner, setting a benchmark for the region and the sector.

Ian Spaulding, CEO for LRQA, said:

“In a world where AI shapes reality itself, governance isn’t a bureaucratic hurdle – it’s the critical and strategic framework that transforms AI from a risky experiment into a sustainable competitive advantage. Organisations across every sector are racing to implement AI, but doing so without proper governance creates significant risk – to operations, to customers and to society.

“ISO 42001 gives businesses a globally recognised framework to ensure their AI systems are safe, ethical and accountable. At LRQA, certification is just one part of how we help clients navigate both the opportunities and risks of emerging technologies. It’s a key part of our broader digital trust strategy – combining assurance, insight and innovation to enable safe, responsible and future-ready adoption of AI across industries.”

To further support clients on their AI assurance journey, LRQA is also offering a suite of training courses designed to build in-house capability and readiness to adopt ISO 42001:

  • Introduction to ISO 42001 – Now available, offering a foundational overview of the standard and its requirements.
  • Lead Auditor Training – Launching in June for those looking to conduct audits of Artificial Intelligence Management Systems.
  • Internal Auditor Training – Also launching in June, equipping in-house teams with the skills to apply ISO 42001 internally.

This launch forms just part of LRQA’s broader investment in AI-powered solutions. The company is also advancing its capabilities through EiQ, its supply chain intelligence software. EiQ is preparing to launch its next phase – an innovative Generative AI-powered supply chain intelligence agent – that will transform how supply chain professionals interpret, analyse and report on data.

This development will provide true intelligence and insight, enabling users to work at speed and scale, and to navigate disruption and rapid change more effectively. By embedding AI into EiQ, LRQA is revolutionising how clients gain visibility and control over their supply chains – turning complex data into actionable decisions.

With the introduction of ISO 42001 certification, a strong focus on upskilling, and next-generation AI enhancements in EiQ, LRQA continues to help organisations unlock the potential of emerging technologies – safely, ethically and confidently.
