We are pleased to share the release of our first Sustainability Progress Report since becoming an independent business in 2021.
This milestone comes following the launch of our sustainability strategy and digital dashboard, 'Our Planet, Our Plan,' in 2023.
LRQA has invested heavily in enhancing its portfolio of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) solutions to help clients address key challenges within their operations and supply chains. We are proud of the impact we are making, helping to create safe and sustainable businesses while tackling some of the world's most pressing issues.
At the same time, we recognise that to be a true leader in sustainability, we must complement the work we do with our clients, with our own ESG commitments. ‘Our Planet, Our Plan’ is our commitment to integrating sustainability throughout our business. Since its launch, we've laid the foundations for a robust and transparent programme of work, driven by a dedicated team and data-led reporting.
I’m delighted to be sharing our sustainability progress report to highlight the work we have already done against Our Planet, Our Plan, along with quotes from our people whose work, every day, is at the core of our approach.
I am proud of what we have started and look forward to what’s to come. It is my strong belief that no business can thrive without truly sustainable foundations, and we are committed to using this strategy as a foundation for our long-term growth, improvement and success.”
2023 highlights
Our Sustainability Progress Report 2023 highlights some of our achievements so far and demonstrates how we’ve worked with our clients on their ESG challenges.
Below are some of the highlights of our progress:
- Environment: We conducted our first greenhouse gas inventory
- Social: We supported seven colleagues through our hardship grant which was introduced in 2022 as part of our Helping Hand package, we supported humanitarian organisations in response to the earthquake in Turkey and Syria and we offered our annual Wellbeing Day to encourage colleagues to spend time doing something which enhances their wellbeing.
- Governance: We established our Sustainability governance framework, became a participant of the UN Global Compact and we have two publicly available codes of conduct that govern our policies on ESG.
Our focus for the rest of 2024
This year we are focusing on several key initiatives to build on the foundations achieved in 2023. We will conduct a double materiality assessment to strengthen our strategy, we will develop our net zero plan carbon emissions plan, and we will work to further enhance our employee wellbeing initiatives.
