LRQA has released its 2024 Sustainability Progress Report, marking a significant step forward in its commitment to building a responsible, inclusive and sustainable business.
The report details the progress made over the past year and outlines LRQA’s refined strategy based on its first Double Materiality Assessment (DMA) – a process that evaluates both the impact of sustainability issues on LRQA and LRQA’s impact on society and the environment.
The findings from the DMA have helped shape four new strategic priority areas that will guide the business going forward: corporate integrity, people experience, enhanced livelihoods and climate action.
These areas are also the foundation of LRQA’s updated sustainability strategy, called Our Planet, Our Plan, and will inform our future goals, actions and performance indicators.
Ian Spaulding, CEO for LRQA, said:
“True progress can only be made with measurement and reflection. I’ve watched LRQA evolve during my time as CEO, and we continue to advance as a responsible, inclusive and sustainable organisation. I am proud to release our second annual Sustainability Progress Report, which demonstrates our performance in 2024, and outlines our areas of focus for the future.
In last year’s report, we pledged to complete a DMA, and in 2024 we delivered. By applying a globally recognised methodology with the same rigour we advise to our clients, we identified our material topics and also focused on four priority areas where we can deliver the greatest impact: Corporate integrity, People experience, Enhanced livelihoods and Climate action.”
The report also highlights key progress across the business in 2024. As part of its commitment to climate action, LRQA launched 220 renewable energy projects, reinforcing its role in helping clients transition to low-carbon operations.
Internally, the company strengthened its focus on people experience by expanding health, safety and wellbeing programmes, supporting its global employee base. Governance of its sustainability strategy was also enhanced, with Lisa Bate, Executive Vice President, Americas and Global Advisory Services, appointed as Executive Sponsor for Our Planet, Our Plan, a move that further embeds accountability at the executive level.
Led by LRQA’s internal Sustainability Leadership Team, and informed by input from stakeholders across the business and client network, the report reflects a coordinated, business-wide effort to ensure the company’s sustainability priorities are both measurable and impactful.
Looking ahead, LRQA will continue to build on this momentum, setting clear targets and driving progress in the areas where it can deliver the greatest positive impact for stakeholders and the planet.
