What are the benefits of ISO 22000?

The benefits of ISO 22000 are:

Time and cost reductions

Annex SL introduces an integrated approach to managing multiple management systems, allowing you to treat all systems as a single entity.

How long does ISO 22000 certification last?

Once approved, certification is valid for three years subject to effective system maintenance demonstrated through the annual surveillance programme.

How much does ISO 22000 certification cost?

The cost of ISO 22000 certification varies depending on multiple factors such as the size of the organisation, the organisation structure, and the scope of the certification. Contact us to request a quote based on your specific needs.

What is the typical ISO 22000 certification process?

The path your organisation takes to achieve ISO 22000 certification depends on your business's level of maturity in food safety, amongst other factors. But the typical process to get ISO 22000 certified includes three main steps.

  • Stage 1 Audit – document review and planning: Your auditor will review the design and documentation of your management system.
  • Stage 2 Audit – evaluating your implementation: Your auditor will assess the implementation and effectiveness of your management system in line with the requirements of ISO 22000. If there are no major non-conformities, you’ll receive your certification. This stage can be carried out partly remotely or on-site.
  • Stage 3 - Promote your ISO 22000 certification: Your certification demonstrates a commitment to internationally recognised best practices and continual improvement – helping you win new business and meet customer demands.

Does GFSI recognise ISO 22000?

No, ISO 22000 is not recognised by the GFSI. However, FSSC 22000, BRCGS Food Safety, and SQF are all standards which are recognised by the GFSI.

What is the difference between ISO 22000 and FSSC 22000?

ISO 22000 and FSSC 22000 are both international standards, designed to provide a food safety management system (FSMS). However, FSSC 22000 is recognised by GFSI. If your suppliers require you to be certified to a GFSI-recognised standard, then FSSC 22000 could be the most suitable for your organization because, in addition to GFSI, the scheme also uses ISO 22000 as the requirement for the management system.

Is a new version of ISO 22000 in development?

The latest version of ISO 22000 was published in June 2018. Currently, there is no new version of ISO 22000 in development. However, the standard is reviewed every five years and may require changes based on market conditions.
